It\u2019s easy to claim sustainability, but proving it is harder. That\u2019s why we\u2019ll keep it short and to the point: We\u2019ve received the GoGreen Plus certificate from DHL Express for the year 2025\u2014externally audited by the certification body SGS. The result: 87.12% fewer well-to-wheel CO\u2082e emissions<\/strong> for our international air freight shipments compared to standard shipping using conventional kerosene. <\/p>\n

What’s the story behind this?<\/h3>\n

Since 2025, our express air freight shipments have been handled through the DHL GoGreen Plus service. This service covers the portion of our shipments powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)<\/strong> \u2014aviation fuel produced from sources such as used cooking oil and animal byproducts, rather than fossil crude oil. <\/p>\n

Why “Well-to-Wheel”?<\/h3>\n

“Well-to-Wheel” means that the assessment covers not only combustion in the aircraft, but the entire chain\u2014from fuel production to transportation. It is not a selective, rosy view of just one part of the process, but rather the fuel\u2019s complete carbon footprint. <\/p>\n

Don’t compensate\u2014reduce<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s important to us to make this distinction: Here, emissions aren\u2019t \u201coffset\u201d somewhere else\u2014for example, through tree-planting projects on the other side of the world. The reduction takes place directly within the transportation chain<\/strong>, right where the emissions are generated. The sustainable jet fuel is used at certified locations via a book-and-claim process (including those operated by Neste, Shell, and World Fuel Services, certified under ISCC CORSIA and ISCC Plus). <\/p>\n

Independently audited<\/h3>\n

These figures do not come from us, nor do they come solely from DHL: The entire calculation was verified by the independent auditing firm SGS (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Surveillance)<\/strong>. Context \u2013 to be honest<\/h3>\n

103 kg of CO\u2082e doesn\u2019t sound like we\u2019re saving the planet\u2014and we\u2019re not claiming that either. It\u2019s the carbon footprint of our air freight shipments, and we\u2019ve reduced it in areas where we have direct influence. A small adjustment, executed cleanly, and transparently documented. That\u2019s exactly how we understand responsibility: no big promises, just verifiable steps. <\/p>\n

Outlook<\/h3>\n

In 2026, we\u2019ll continue to ship our international express shipments via GoGreen Plus. We\u2019ll post the next certificate here on the blog\u2014with real numbers, not just buzzwords. <\/p>\n
